March is National Nutrition Month and a great time to celebrate children’s health.

Blythedale Children’s Hospital and The Food Bank of Westchester invite schools, students and families to partake in a fun and educational event.

It was not uncommon for a person's diet 100 years ago to reflect a heavy dependence on grains, fruits, and vegetables.

While there is far more attention paid today to health and nutrition.

The remaining three nutrients-vitamins, minerals, and water- are essential for the body to use these other nutrients properly.

When choosing a variety of foods, your diet can supply all your daily requirements.Food and Nutrition Cleo Chana Nutrition refers to the study of the way in which the substances in food affect our health.Over the last one hundred years, American diet has changed drastically.Most students know that too much fat, sugar, and salt are unhealthy.They know these substances increase the chance of getting chronic diseases such as heart disease and cancer.Make sure each submission identifies the student(s) or classroom and school. **Make sure to include: Blythedale Children's Hospital, through the generosity of Kohl’s Department Stores, is proud to offer Blythedale and Kohl's Eat Well, Be Well, an innovative outreach program designed to bring health and nutrition education to schools throughout Westchester and Putnam counties.Through this program, Blythedale staff members teach healthy eating habits to children by providing curricula, training and educational tools to school districts throughout the area.(Note: teachers are encouraged to adapt activities and projects to their students’ age and developmental level.) All participants will receive a “Health Ambassador for Westchester” Certificate.
